Advances in Outpatient Medicine: Updates in Primary Care Practice

This comprehensive course is designed to provide practicing internists, family practitioners, advance practice providers, and other healthcare professionals with the latest developments in outpatient medicine, controversies in primary care, and updated strategies for caring for patients with COVID-19.

Course Objectives

The primary goal of this course is to enhance competence and improve clinician practice in primary care and ambulatory practice. Participants can expect to gain expertise in:

Treating common disorders in dermatology, including skin cancer, eczema, acne, hair loss, chronic urticaria, drug eruptions, skin infections, and disorders of aging skin.
Diagnosing and treating common and less common disorders of the lung.
Mastery of common problems in neurology, including the clinical exam, headaches, back pain, dementia, delirium, and stroke.
Treating patients with common mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, and somatoform disorders.
Detecting and managing oncologic emergencies.
Understanding and treating obesity, using new medications and staying patient-centered.
Selecting the best diagnostic tests and enhancing value in medical practice.
Using best evidence and optimizing patient communication and shared-decision making.
Becoming a better clinician and advocate with a deeper understanding of health disparities and the central role of primary care clinicians in providing equitable, patient-centered care.
