This first edition of the Atlas of Pediatric Echocardiography is the result of the extensive knowledge of specialists in the field of Pediatric Cardiology. The objective of this work is to provide didactic and practical information for the echocardiographic diagnosis of major heart diseases in childhood and adolescence, focusing on congenital (CC) structural and functional heart diseases, correlating echocardiography with its clinical applicability.

Richly illustrated, with a collection of echocardiogram images including, as a differential, a vast archive of didactic videos, in which the reader will be able to access dynamic images of the normal heart and a variety of examples of CC, from the most frequent to the rarest and most complex.

The chapters were carefully selected, considering topics such as performing the pediatric echocardiography exam, encompassing cardiovascular segmental orientation and functional echocardiography in pediatrics. The topics related to CC were divided into: anomalies of cardiac position, anomalous drainage of pulmonary veins, interatrial communication, interventricular communication, atrioventricular septal defect, obstructions of the right and left ventricular outflow tracts, aortic arch diseases, persistence of the ductus arteriosus, conotruncal anomalies, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, Ebstein anomaly, univentricular atrioventricular connection (physiology of “single ventricle”), myocardial and pericardial diseases, cardiac tumors, and rare CC.

Also addressed were themes such as echocardiography in systemic diseases, Doppler of carotids in pediatrics, advanced techniques for assessing cardiac function, transesophageal echocardiography, and echocardiographic evaluation in the postoperative period of major cardiac surgeries.

Easy to read, practical, and didactic, allowing the diagnosis of structural and functional CC and their necessary detailing, the Atlas of Pediatric Echocardiography aims to assist in the applicability of Echocardiography to clinical practice and is directed at pediatric cardiologists, echocardiographers, cardiologists, pediatricians, and all professionals interested in the area.
