AEG Clinics: A Comprehensive Guide to Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Introduction

The Spanish Association of Gastroenterology (AEG) has launched a new series of monographs through its teaching department. These monographs aim to provide the latest clinical information in the field of gastroenterology. The project begins with a series of high-level scientific monographs, featuring contributions from national and international experts with a proven track record in both clinical and research fields.

Clinical Iberoamericanas de Gastroenterología y Hepatología

This project aims to become a long-term initiative that publishes periodic updates, allowing readers to stay current with the most complex and contemporary topics in the field. Each monograph will consist of ten manuscripts, providing a comprehensive overview of the condition being discussed.

Focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease

This particular monograph focuses on the epidemiology of inflammatory bowel disease, as well as a simplified explanation of recent genetic advances and their relationship to clinical practice. It also dedicates a chapter to imaging techniques used in diagnosing this pathology, without neglecting topics such as the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease and pregnancy, and the importance of patient participation in disease management.

Project Directors

The overall AEG Clinics project will be directed by two renowned experts: Dr. Antoni Castells, from the Gastroenterology Service at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, and Dr. Henry Cohen, former President of the World Gastroenterology Organization.
