The Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy (JNPT) is a premier, indexed resource for disseminating research-based evidence related to neurologic physical therapy interventions. Maintaining high standards of quality is paramount, achieved through a rigorous, double-blinded, peer-review process and adherence to the standards recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.
JNPT’s scope encompasses the publication of articles of global relevance, focusing on the examination, evaluation, prognosis, intervention, and outcomes for individuals with movement deficits due to neurologic conditions. Through systematic reviews, research articles, case studies, and clinical perspectives, JNPT promotes the integration of evidence into theory, education, research, and practice of neurologic physical therapy, spanning the continuum from pathophysiology to societal participation.
The Journal of Neurologic Physical Therapy (JNPT) is the primary peer-reviewed, indexed resource for advancing neurologic physical therapy practice through the dissemination of definitive evidence, translation of clinically relevant knowledge, and integration of theory into education, practice, and research.
JNPT is the official quarterly publication of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy, as well as our sister societies, the Associação Brasileira de Fisioterapia Neurofuncional (ABRAFIN), and the International Neurological Physical Therapy Association.
Prior to September 2003, JNPT was known as Neurology Report. Back issues of Neurology Report are available in the Previous Issues archive.
JNPT exists to disseminate knowledge to advance the science and clinical practice of neurologic physical therapy. The readership of JNPT is primarily comprised of neurologic physical therapist clinicians and movement science research experts. This dedicated community drives the journal’s content, with reviewers drawn from specialists with demonstrated content expertise, ensuring outstanding reviews and guidance to maximize the impact of the journal content.
The core journal articles include original research as well as integration and interpretation from the diverse areas of study that contribute to the science underlying the physical therapy management of persons with functional deficits due to neurologic conditions. To augment the core article content, JNPT also offers digital media in the form of online videos, audio podcasts, journal clubs, and blogs that further the goal of translating knowledge from the bench to the bedside.
