Local and Regional Therapy for Malignant Liver Tumors

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft für regionale Tumortherapie e.V. was founded in Germany 32 years ago with the goal of promoting interdisciplinary research in the field of regional and local tumor therapy and making the results public. The editors have been clinically and experimentally involved in the treatment of malignant liver tumors since then. A significant problem has always been the inadequate scientific basis of local and regional therapies, which has been continuously discussed in the Arbeitsgemeinschaft. New local therapy methods and further developments of regional therapy, as well as the combined use of different methods, were the reason for compiling this overview. This book aims to show which solid foundations exist for local and regional treatment of malignant liver tumors and where gaps still exist. Closing these gaps is the task of the next generation. Another goal of the book is to give oncologically active physicians the opportunity to learn about alternative therapy methods to systemic chemotherapy for malignant liver tumors. All this should help improve the medical care of patients with malignant liver tumors further.
